Dimmsdale or Chillingworth?
Hello, this week in our blogs i will be discussing which character is more worth sympathizing for, Dimmsdale or Chillingworth. As I have been reading along, I have had mixed views on both of these characters, but there character that i would sympathize the most for would be Chillingworth. Chillingworth has traveled a long distance to meet his wife he hasn't seen in a very long time, but he comes back to see his wife is being punished for adultery and has a child of her own. You can imagine how shocked Chillingworth would be after witnessing this all, and because of this would be affected more then Dimmsdale, as he doesn't care. Dimmsdale doesn't care for them, and for that he deserves no sympathy, an example of that is, "In a moment, however, wisely judging that one token of her shame would but poorly serve to hide another, she took the baby on her arm, and, with a burning blush, and yet a haughty smile, and a glance that would not be abashed, looked around at her townspeople and neighbours".
